Our Work

The work of Lampsi and future goals

Lampsi’s work is multifaceted. With her institutional role, she has managed to change a lot in recent years in Northern Greece and hopes to achieve even more.

In Thessaloniki, there are 2 pediatric oncology/hematology departments in the pediatric clinics of the AHEPA & IPPOKRATEIOU hospitals, where children with cancer from all over Northern Greece are treated. “Lampsi”, utilizing corresponding sponsorships, proceeded with the expansion and radical reconstruction of the departments, as well as the renewal of their equipment.

HIPPOKRATEIO Hospital

``Lampsi`` designed, commissioned and supervised the following projects, at the expense of the ``Stavros Niarchos`` Foundation, which made a large donation to ``Lampsi`` specifically for this purpose. The Mediterranean Anemia Unit, which was previously housed on the second floor of the Pediatrics building, next to the Pediatric Oncology Department, was relocated to the blood donation building. After the specific space was released, work was carried out to expand the Pediatric Oncology Department across the entire width of its floor, increasing the department's surface area from 400 sq.m. to 600 sq.m. With the exception of the structural elements of the floor, all areas of the Pediatric Oncology Department were reconstructed, and new hotel equipment was installed. Similar work was also carried out in the outpatient clinics on the ground floor. The arrangement was done in collaboration with the medical and nursing staff. The renovated section was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, in October 2009.

AHEPA Hospital

``Lampsi`` received a large donation in memory of the patriot Mr. Georgios Pantelakis for the expansion-renovation of the Pediatric Oncology Wing of the Pediatric Clinic of AHEPA. He designed, commissioned and supervised the expansion of the clinic and its renovation, as well as the renewal of its hotel equipment. Special outpatient clinics and short-term hospitalization areas, areas for doctors, archives, etc. were created. AHEPA hospital itself covered the costs of the building part of the work and had an important role in the design and implementation of the project. The inauguration took place in November 2009 by the leadership of the Ministry of Health.

Today

LAMPSI, dedicated to supporting children with cancer, continues to work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the little fighters and their families. It continues to cover the costs of paying the salaries of specialized psychological and social support staff. Through its development, it supports and serves its purpose and work from 1987 to the present day. Every day, with dedication and love, we try to give strength and hope to children and their parents who are facing this difficult battle, reinforcing the belief that no child should struggle alone.

The House of Lampsi

Therefore, by taking care of and ensuring the best possible logistical infrastructure for the departments, the financial and psychosocial support for the children and their families, Lampsi will very soon undertake a very large project that is also one of its greatest goals, the creation of a hospice “The House of Lampsi” for all children suffering from cancer and their families, in Northern Greece, next to the new SNF University Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki. A vision that, after years, is beginning to become a reality.
The construction of the hostel will be financed by “LAMPSI” through donations.
