Continuing Support: Support Groups for Children and Families after Treatment
Childhood cancer is being defeated! More and more children today are emerging victorious from this difficult battle. However, the end of treatment does not always signal the end of the difficulty. The long-term treatment, which sometimes means staying in hospitals for even years, affects every aspect of the life of the child, the brother or sister, the mother, the father, but also the wider family. When a child gets sick, the entire family gets sick in various and unsuspected ways. In fact, there are cases where the experience of the disease leaves indelible “marks” on the souls of both the children and their families that “burden” the rest of their lives!
LAMPSI, wanting to support children and their families who, after the end of treatment, face integration problems or have experienced loss, decided to proceed with external collaboration with psychologists, who undertake support groups for anyone who wishes to participate.
These groups offer a safe and supportive environment where members can express their feelings, share experiences, and become empowered through the collective healing process.
For anyone who wishes, there is also the possibility of an individual session with the psychologist, always with respect for the needs and pace of each patient.
For more information and participation forms, please contact the Association office.
Care does not stop within the hospital but continues with respect, support and love in our “Lampsi” Family.
