1987 – Establishment
The LAMPSI association was founded in 1987 in Thessaloniki (decision 1364/1987 of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki) by parents from all over Northern Greece whose children were infected with a malignant disease and were hospitalized in the pediatric oncology departments of Thessaloniki.
2 Pediatric Oncology Departments
In Thessaloniki there are 2 pediatric oncology departments, one at the Hippocrates General Hospital of Thessaloniki and one at AHEPA which is part of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic, while a corresponding clinic at the Papanikolaou General Hospital hosts adolescents and children undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
Ministry of Health and Welfare Certification
The LAMPSI association is certified by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (YPEKY) as a non-profit primary social care provider and its finances are controlled by the Directorate of Childcare Facilities of the Municipality of Thessaloniki as having the responsibility of supervising charitable associations.

Only parents of children suffering from neoplastic diseases, as well as children who have been ill in the past and are now adults, become regular members of the association.

All friends who realize the need to contribute with material support or volunteer work for the success of the goals of Lampsi can become members.
