The LAMPSI association was founded in 1987 in Thessaloniki by parents from all over Northern Greece whose children were affected by malignant diseases and were hospitalized in the pediatric oncology departments of Thessaloniki.
Beginning of cooperation with the Department of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the aim of creating the first volunteer group, which was active in the pediatric oncology departments of Thessaloniki.
The Network of Associations for the Health of Northern Greece, including the “Lampsi” association, began its activities in 2007 in collaboration with the Department of Social and Clinical Psychology of the Department of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Organization of a conference “Truths about childhood cancer”, at the Historical Center of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Self-Help Promotion Program.
Hiring an employee with IT expertise and starting the digitization of medical files of patients in the two pediatric oncology departments in Thessaloniki.
Completion of the 2nd floor of the Blood Donation building for the relocation of the Mediterranean Anemia Unit to the Hippocratic General Hospital of Thessaloniki. It was carried out with a donation from the “Stavros Niarchos” Foundation and implemented by Lampsi.
The President of the Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, inaugurates the renovated pediatric oncology department of the hospital. Lampsi was the implementing agency for the project, with expenses from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which made a large donation specifically for this purpose.
The inauguration was held by the leadership of the Ministry of Health. Lampsi designed, commissioned and supervised the expansion of the clinic and its renovation, receiving a large donation in memory of the late Georgios Pantelakis.
Reconstruction of the MMA – Hematological Diseases outpatient clinics on the ground floor of the “Professor Christos Kassimos” Pediatrics Building of the Hippocrates General Hospital. It was carried out with a donation from the “Stavros Niarchos” Foundation and with Lampsi as the implementing agency.
Relocation of Lampsi’s offices to a larger and more functional space at 5 Kleanthous and Papanastasiou.
The Superleague dedicates Matchday 23 to World Childhood Cancer Day (February 15). Since then, every year, Matchday 23 is dedicated to raising awareness about childhood cancer.
Creation and organization of a list of volunteer platelet donors in collaboration with blood donations of municipalities and organizations in Thessaloniki.
Renovation and renovation of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Hippocrates General Hospital of Thessaloniki. It was carried out with a donation from the “Stavros Niarchos” Foundation and with Lampsi as the implementing agency.
Lampsi, since 2013, has been supporting the needs of parents and children living in areas remote from the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, with the contribution of the dynamic group of volunteer parents in the city of Drama.
The association, wishing to inform the student community of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on issues of childhood cancer, held a festival entitled “Childhood cancer can be cured” on May 23, 2013 in collaboration with the Department of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the self-help promotion program.
Placement of two university fellows in the pediatric oncology department of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of AHEPA, doctors who practice clinical work in the department. The sponsorship for the funding of the positions was provided by PAOK FC and the team’s major shareholder, Mr. Ivan Savvidis.

On the occasion of the World Childhood Cancer Day, which is celebrated on February 15, the Mandritsiotan-Thrakian Association of Thermi supported “Lampsi” and organized a charity event at the Thermi Cultural Center. Dance clubs of the city participated in the event. The event has now become an institution and is held every year.
Με σύνθημα «Τρέχουμε στη φύση για καλό σκοπό» το “Panorama Charity Fun Run” διοργανώθηκε από το Δήμος Πυλαίας-Χορτιάτη, τον Αθλητικό Σύλλογο Πανοράματος «Λέοντες» και την Ένωση Αθλητικών Σωματείων ΣΕΓΑΣ Θεσσαλονίκης. Τα έσοδα από τις συνδρομές συμμετοχής διατέθηκαν για την υποστήριξη συλλόγων, ανάμεσά τους και η Λάμψη. Η εκδήλωση έχει γίνει θεσμός και πραγματοποιείται κάθε χρόνο.

Renovation of the school located in the pediatric oncology department of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the General Hospital of Athens, AHEPA, with the care and supervision of Lampsi and with the assistance of IKEA (Fourlis Group) in the design and furnishing of the space.
On the occasion of World Childhood Cancer Day on February 15, our association, for another year in collaboration with the Urban Non-Profit Company Be My Hero, organized an information and awareness event for childhood cancer and the registration of New Volunteer Bone Marrow Donors at Toms.
In the context of informing and raising awareness of society as a whole on issues related to childhood cancer, our association organized for the third year a conference entitled: “Opening the wings again…”, which took place on Saturday, September 21 at the Piraeus Bank Conference Center.
After years of struggle, a memorandum of understanding is signed with the Ministry of Health, for the concession of an area of 10 acres in the area of Filyros, right next to the University Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki under construction by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, with the aim of rebuilding a hostel, which will exclusively accommodate families and their children who will be hospitalized in the pediatric oncology department of the new Hospital.
